President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has thanked Ugandans for the messages and good wishes he received during his 82nd birthday celebrations, saying the support has given him encouragement as he continues serving the country.
H.E Museveni said he was grateful for the millions of birthday messages sent to him by Ugandans especially his Bazzukulu and described the wishes as a source of motivation and blessings.
In his statement released on his X page, Mzee said; “I am pleased with the 8 million birthday wishes that you sent me. Those well-wishes and God’s blessings will push me for another 18 years when I will be clocking 100 years old, and mama to reach 96 years,”
The President made the remarks while acknowledging the support he received from citizens who celebrated his birthday and sent messages of goodwill.
H.E Museveni said the birthday wishes were a reflection of the connection between him and many Ugandans who took time to send messages during the occasion.
He expressed appreciation for the prayers and blessings from citizens, saying they would give him more strength as he continues with his responsibilities. The President’s comments come as he continues leading the government after several decades in power, with supporters often highlighting his experience and leadership record.
His birthday celebrations attracted messages from different sections of society, including government officials, political supporters, organisations and individuals.
The well-wishes have also generated discussions among Ugandans about Museveni’s long political journey and his continued role in the country’s leadership.
But according to the look of things, Ugandans still love and trust the old man. When you try to investigate, you find out that it was the young generation that sent the best wishes to Mzee. This clearly show that Mzee still holds support from the youth.
Museveni said the support and prayers he received would encourage him as he continues working on issues affecting the country and its people. The President also extended his appreciation to those who joined in celebrating his birthday and shared messages wishing him good health and continued service.
In his statement, H.E advised African to be wise and look far if they want their Nation to stay away from future calamities.
H.E said “In those remaining years, I appeal to the Africans, if they want to avoid future calamity, to work on the 3 historical missions not yet attained.
These are: prosperity for the Africans through integrating the African common market to help the wealth creators expand; strategic security against all threats through the political integration of the continent where possible, such as is the case with the East African Federation; in all this using undugu (the brotherhood) of the four linguistic groups of the 1.5bn Africans- the Niger-Congo (the Bantu and Kwa), the Nilo-Saharan (Cushitic, Nilotic, etc.), the Afro-Asiatic (Arabic, Tigrinya, Amhara) and the Khoisan”.
It is the fulfilment of these historical missions, that will guarantee our prosperity and strategic security.
