KAMPALA — Rapper Fik Fameica and Makerere University Guild President Gracious Kadondi were involved in a heated exchange on stage during the university’s Freshers Ball on Saturday night after the student leader interrupted the singer’s performance.
The incident unfolded at Impis Rugby Grounds, where Fik was entertaining students before Kadondi arrived on stage accompanied by members of her team and took the microphone.
Kadondi reportedly wanted to address the gathering, having not been given an opportunity to speak earlier in the programme. However, Fik appeared determined to finish his set before anyone else took over.
He told the Guild President and her team to leave the stage, insisting that he still had work to do.
“Leave my stage! I have work to do,” he said, in a video of the incident shared on social media.
The disagreement continued for several minutes as police officers and members of the musician’s team stood nearby. Students watching the exchange could be heard chanting Fik Fameica’s name.
Kadondi eventually left the stage with her team, allowing the rapper to resume his performance.
The confrontation has since generated debate among university students and entertainment followers, with questions being raised about stage management and the Guild President\'s opportunity to address students at an event involving the students\' leadership.
Some defended Fik, arguing that he was entitled to complete his performance, while others felt Kadondi should have been accorded an opportunity to speak before the entertainment programme ended.
The free-entry event, held at Impis Rugby Grounds under the #MAKFreshersBall26 banner, featured several Ugandan performers, including Azawi, Feffe Bussi, Winnie Nwagi, Mozelo Kidz and Fik Fameica.
Coca-Cola supported the event through its Essaawa Yonna Kisoboka campaign. Students also braved the rain to attend the celebrations.
Kadondi became Makerere University\'s 92nd Guild President in April 2026 after winning 6,801 votes on the National Unity Platform ticket, defeating Hannah Karema.
Neither the university nor the guild had issued an official response to the stage disagreement by the time of publication.
