Border security across the EAC has received a boost with the handover of 16 patrol vehicles to strengthen frontline operations, combat cross-border crime and illicit activities and facilitate the safe movement of people and goods.
๐น Two vehicles have been allocated to each of the eight EAC Partner States to strengthen border patrols, improve responses to security threats and protect communities.
The vehicles were officially handed over by EAC Secretary General, Amb. Stephen Patrick Mbundi; Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of Japan in Tanzania, Mr. Jin Hashimoto, and the Director of the UNOPS East and Southern Africa Multi-Country Office, Mr. Massimo Diana.
๐น The initiative addresses transport and mobility gaps identified through technical assessments conducted by the EAC Secretariat at One-Stop Border Posts (OSBPs) across the region.
